Overview

Discover Tusheti

Ride into one of the wildest, most untouched mountain regions of the Caucasus. Hidden beyond the legendary Abano Pass, Tusheti offers raw terrain, massive vertical descents, and remote alpine trails that push both skill and endurance. This is a high-intensity enduro expedition built for experienced riders chasing real big-mountain riding — technical singletrack, loose gravel, exposed ridgelines, and long days in the saddle. Over four days you'll traverse ancient Tushetian villages, cross high mountain passes, and descend through dramatic valleys where nature still dominates. With 4×4 support, luggage transfers, and authentic guesthouse stays, the hard riding comes wrapped in genuine cultural immersion — nights in stone villages that have stood for centuries, and days on some of the most remote trails in Georgia. It ends where it began in spirit: a final, legendary descent from the Abano Pass, a massive drop through endless switchbacks, waterfalls, and dramatic landscape. Pricing is per person and scales with group size: €2,350 solo, €1,340 for 2, €1,004 for 3, €835 for 4, and from €734 per person for a group of 5. Bike rental is not included but is available on request for an additional cost — tell us your group size and whether you need a bike when you enquire and we'll send an exact quote.

FAQ

Common questions

It's a hard, big-mountain enduro expedition for experienced riders. You should be a confident off-road/enduro rider, comfortable with technical singletrack, loose and exposed terrain, steep climbs, and long days in the saddle — including sections where hike-a-bike may be required. This is not a beginner or intro tour.

You can bring your own MTB or arrange a rental with us in advance. Bike rental is not included in the tour price but is available on request for an additional cost — just tell us when you enquire.

Rental is priced separately and depends on the bike and dates. Let us know you'd like to rent when you enquire and we'll confirm the current cost and availability.

Strong fitness is essential. Expect long days, big descents that demand control and stamina, steep climbs, and possible hike-a-bike at altitude. You should already be riding regularly and comfortable with multi-day back-to-back efforts.

Technical singletrack, loose gravel, exposed ridgelines, rocky switchbacks, and long remote descents through wild valleys — classic big-mountain enduro. The Abano Pass descent alone is a massive drop through endless switchbacks.

The Abano Pass (2,826 m) is one of the most dramatic mountain roads in the region — steep, unpaved, and only open in the warm months. We cross it by 4×4 with your bikes, then ride from the top. The pass features again on the final day for the big closing descent.

Yes — all accommodation in Tushetian guesthouses and all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are included. Expect hearty, home-cooked Tushetian food in family-run guesthouses.

A helmet is essential. We strongly recommend knee and elbow protection, riding gloves, enduro-appropriate clothing, and a waterproof/wind layer plus warm layers for the high alpine. Bring basic spares and a repair kit too.

Travel insurance with adventure-sport / mountain-biking cover and emergency evacuation is strongly recommended for this remote, big-mountain terrain. We can suggest providers — just ask.

Tusheti is high, remote alpine terrain and conditions can change fast. Your guide monitors the weather and will adapt the route or timing for safety. The Abano Pass and high passes are only reliably open July–September.

Yes — every departure is private, so it works perfectly for a group of riding friends. Pricing scales with your group size (best value at 5 riders). Use "Request a Custom Version" in the enquiry form to tailor it.

After the final Abano Pass descent on Day 4 we transfer you by 4×4 back toward Tbilisi the same evening. If you'd prefer to stay an extra night in the mountains, let us know and we'll help arrange it.
