Discover Imereti — near Kutaisi
Melouri Cave is wild caving in its truest form — no handrails, no walkways, no coloured lights. Just you, a helmet and headlamp, a certified guide, and the living dark of the Georgian karst near Kutaisi. This is an "active" cave: you'll cross an underground river, pick your way past rock formations, and move through chambers where the only sound is dripping water and your own breath. It's an adventure, but an accessible one — no previous caving experience is required, and your guide leads every step, reading the cave and keeping the group safe. You'll get a little muddy, you'll scramble a little, and you'll come out grinning. You stay mostly dry — the boots we provide keep your feet dry, and you only step across the water rather than walk through it. A perfect half-day of real underground exploration for anyone based in or passing through Imereti — and a strong add-on to a western-Georgia trip. Melouri has many possible routes, so the difficulty and length are tailored to your group — your guide picks the line that fits your fitness, experience and appetite for adventure. You'll spend roughly 3–5 hours underground. You can join from Kutaisi as a roughly five-hour experience, or from Tbilisi as a long full day (Kutaisi is about 3.5–4 hours' drive each way). Choose your pickup point in the enquiry. Not recommended for those with serious claustrophobia or significant mobility limits — see the FAQ.
