Overview

Discover Imereti — near Kutaisi

Canyoning is the most complete way to travel through a mountain — instead of walking around a gorge, you go straight down the middle of it. Over a full day in a wild canyon in the green highlands of western Georgia, you'll follow a river as it drops through the rock: rappelling down the faces of live waterfalls, sliding polished natural chutes, and leaping into cold, clear plunge pools. Between the big moves you'll wade, swim, scramble and down-climb — always moving with the water, deeper into a place you can only reach this way. No previous experience is needed. A certified canyoning guide leads the descent, sets and checks every rope, and coaches you through each rappel and jump before you commit to it — and every jump has a walk-around alternative, so you choose your own level of adrenaline. You'll be fitted with a wetsuit, harness and helmet, and your guide reads the water and the weather the whole way down. It's an easy day-trip add-on to any western-Georgia itinerary. Join from Kutaisi as a roughly six-hour experience, or from Tbilisi as a long full day (Kutaisi is about 3.5–4 hours' drive each way) — choose your pickup point in the enquiry.
